The Oneida Daily Dispatch, LEGAL NOTICE Madison Central School District Meeting and Budget Vote NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Madison Central School District, Madison County, New York will be convened at the Madison Central School Building located on Route 20, Madison, New York on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 6:30 pm for the presentation of the budget. The budget will be available for review during the seven (7) days immediately preceding the hearing between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, at the Madison Central School Main Office. PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Annual Meeting of the qualified voters of the Madison Central School District of the towns of Augusta, Marshall, Vernon, Eaton, Madison, and Stockbridge in Oneida and Madison counties, State of New York, will be held in the school foyer on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, between the hours of 12 noon to 8:00 pm, prevailing time, at which time the polls will be open to vote by ballot upon the following items: 1. To adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2014-2015 in the amount of $9,268,083 and authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the district. 2. To elect (1) one Board Member commencing on July 1, 2014 and expiring on June 30, 2018. 3. To authorize the purchase of one (1) new bus at a cost not to exceed $104,061, one (1) new 7 passenger 4 wheel drive suburban at a cost not to exceed $50,000 and one (1) new 7 passenger mini-van at a cost not to exceed $25,000 and to levy taxes to be collected in annual installments, with obligations for the District to be issued in anticipation thereof. 4. To fund the District’s Repair Reserve Fund up to the amount of $150,000 from the 2013-2014 fund balance all as permitted by law. 5. To authorize the Board of Education of the Madison Central School District to expend up to $100,000 for the continuation of Masonry Restoration of the Main K-12 Building and abatement of asbestos, with up to $100,000 of such cost to be expended from Building Aid and EXCEL Aid, all as permitted by law. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District’s Budget for 2014-2015 exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours during the fourteen days immediately preceding the vote at the school district Main Office. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the qualified voters of the School District shall be entitled to vote at said annual vote and election. A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, (3) resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the annual vote and election. The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law 2018-c. Such form may include a driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card. Upon proof of residency, the School District may also require all persons offering to vote to provide their signature, printed name and address. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots for adoption of the Annual Budget may be applied for at the office of the Clerk of the District. Mailed application for absentee ballots must be received in the District Clerk’s office seven (7) days before the budget vote. Applications for absentee ballots may be received in person by the District Clerk up to one day before the annual meeting.
